The Great White Dope: 'I'm The Only One Who Matters'

Good Day World!

Hey! What happened?

I thought America came first?

Isn't that what America's Great White Dope was preaching throughout his campaign, and now during his presidency?

It sure doesn't sound like that to me. He recently told reporters, "My attitude is the only one that matters," when it comes to dealing with North Korea.

Fox News recently hired a new Trump minion, Laura Ingraham, who recently asked Trump when he planned to fill appointments at the State department?

Here's what he said:

"Let me tell you, the one that matters is me. I'm the only one that matters, because when it comes to it, that's what the policy is going to be."

I think that's pretty clear. Democracy shudders every time Trump speaks, or tweets.

Trump may actually believe he has the unilateral power to lift any regulation he wants to, and he unquestionably wishes that were true.

If it wasn't for the checks and balances in our government, Trump would have already achieved his dream of being a dictator, and openly hobnobbing around with his hero Putin.

To sum up our Liar-In-Chief, he has no respect for the laws of the land. He's doing his best to insert far right lunatics and cronies into key government positions.

His pretense of representing struggling middle class Americans in the hinterlands, has dropped and now he's busy taking away people's health care, and putting together a Tax bill that will benefit the wealthiest of Americans.

There's only one thing that has been consistent in Trump's life; that's his love for himself.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

Americans Can't Live Without Guns, Even Though Gun Deaths Are Increasing

Good Day World!

Just because there's been two massacres using guns in the last 35 days, don't think that's going to move the cowards in Congressman to enact any gun laws.

It was too soon to take about gun laws after the Las Vegas massacre according to the spineless legislators and Trump.

Before anyone even said anything about gun control after the church shooting massacre in Texas, Trump was doing the NRA's job and calling for more help for mentally ill people.

That doesn't help the fact that when the Air Force dishonorably discharged the Texas shooter for assaulting his wife and child, they didn't call civilian authorities and make sure he was put on a no-gun buy list.

When a man walked into a Colorado Walmart and killed three people recently there were several people in the store packing weapons. They pulled them out when they heard gunfire.

Not one of them shot at the shooter, who just calmly walked out the front door. Then, when the police got there the investigation was hampered by the fact the police had to spend time checking out all the gun-toting shoppers.

Meanwhile the shooter drove away.

Please note this you ass-holes that keep saying the only thing that can stop a bad guy, is a good guy with a gun. Obviously that's bullshit.

Things are just getting worse as the mental cripples in Congress continue to crawl for the NRA lobby.

The U.S. rate for gun deaths has increased for the second straight year, following 15 years of no real change, a government report shows.

Overall, there were more than 38,000 gun deaths last year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Legislators aren't kicking the can down the street, they picked it up and put it in the trash heap while Americans are dying in record numbers.

Democratic Party Unity Is Nothing More Than a Liberal Wet Dream

Good Day World!

News alert...

The Democratic Party stands a good chance of not even winning one of the eight state elections being held tomorrow.
I sure hope I'm wrong, however.

My concern is the Dems have no core message. Hating Trump is not going to get them votes. Pretending their unified is a farce everyone can see through.

Watching the latest fireworks in the Democratic Party after former Party Chairman, Donna Brazile, accused the Clinton campaign of collusion with the DNC, reinforced how rudderless the party is.

That was like tearing off a scab for the Bernie Sanders supporters who are still feeling like he was robbed by the DNC's corrupt politics.

Tom Perez, current DNC party chairman, is living in a bubble when he claims the Dems are appealing to populist voters who want jobs and better working conditions.

It's just the opposite. In reality, the Dems have no strong leaders sending out a core message of unity and progressive agendas.

The Republicans have gotten a lot of negative press, and rightly so, about being a fractured party. Especially since they're in power and haven't passed any major legislation.

But the Democrats haven't begun to take advantage of the "do-nothing" Congress or a nationally unpopular president.

It's like watching a close baseball game. The team behind by one run in the 9th inning strands two men on base after three strikeouts.

As long as there's a "Berniecrat" and Clinton wing in the DNC, the Democratic Party will flounder around in it's own shit.

The Republicans, even though they're divided, are still in the "cat bird" seat.

Who Cares If There's Less News and More Trash in the Media?

                                     Good Day World!

Who cares if Sarah Hyland's character on Modern Family is bisexual?

Who cares if a mother goes from size 22 to 2 to inspire her daughter?

Who cares if Luke revisits the Millennium Falcon in a Star Wars ad?

Who cares if when Pope Francis prays he sometimes falls asleep?

Someone must, or the media wouldn't run these stupid stories. That, or they're just page fillers designed for millennials whose famous lack of focus and love of graphics is well known.

It's bad enough that we are in the age of fake stories, but watching the growing emergence of nonsensical stories in the mainstream media that should only be run in rags like The National Inquirer, is like witnessing the execution of good journalism.

I don't go to The Washington Post political section to read about what Oprah Winfrey's latest good deed was. Yet, there it is, sharing stories like, Republicans manage to make the tax code more complicated.

The publishers answer to the decline in readership in newspapers is to run less actual news stories, and more pablum for the masses.

I guess retired old newspapermen, like myself, are the only one's who give a damn these days. It's not easy watching an American institution sink into the swamp without a whimper.

Trump Appointees and Nominees Smell Like Week-Old Dead Fish

Good Day World!

Frances Langum has Trump's modus operandi down when it came to how he picks government department heads;

"If you want to destroy a department, you head it up with someone who is stupid."

Making Rick Perry the Secretary of Energy, and Betsy (I don't know why everyone doesn't like me) DeVoss, Education Secretary are perfect examples.

They're both pathetically stupid, and under-qualified.

Perry didn't even know there was a Department of Energy when Trump appointed him to head it up.

And DeVoss, who is against public schools and thinks charter schools are the way to go, is getting zero respect from school administrators and teachers. No wonder. She has absolutely no experience in school administration or teaching.

You can see the trend.

Trump's nominee for the Agricultural post, Sam Clovis, had to withdraw recently, not because he had absolutely no credentials in science or agriculture, but because he got caught up in the Trump election campaign investigation.

Otherwise, for the first time, instead of a top scientist in the field for the job, we would have had another idiot embedded in our government.
None of Trump's appointees, or nominees, will ever pass the smell test, but that doesn't matter. They don't have to.

As the backlog of nominees by Trump continues to grow, we can be sure his loyal minions are waiting for their big payoff. And, they all smell like week-old dead fish.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

Do 'Minions' Know They're 'Minions?'

Good Day World!

As I watch our democracy being systematically dismantled by Trump's minions a pressing question comes to mind; do minions know they're minions?

Don't laugh. I'm serious.

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz was supposed to testify Wednesday before the House Committee on Homeland Security, but the hearing was abruptly canceled.

Trump minions thought nothing about stopping someone critical of Trump from testifying to how bad things still were in Puerto Rico.

Cruz was right, when after she found out that her testimony had been abruptly cancelled she said, "Trump can't handle the truth" to reporters in the Capital hallway.

The minions know what's really happening however. It's their job to make Trump look good regardless of the dastardly things he does that affects millions of lives.

Have these minions sold their souls to follow Donny Little-Hands to hell?

What if they don't know their minions? Now there's a thought. They're blindly following a maniac just because they love him.

I think this conversation needs to go to another level.

Say Voodoo.

You've heard of zombies haven't you?

Time for me to walk on down the road...

Fox News and Friends Are Trump's Main Advisors

Good Day World!

Fox News and our Liar-in-Chief are partners in crime.

They meet every morning.

Afterwards, Donny gets on his golden shitter and starts tweeting.

By the time his advisors show up with the official intelligence briefings they're too late to correct his errors and personal attacks.

The attack in Manhattan by a radicalized Muslim is just another example of the collusion between Fox and their Trump boy.

Instead of tweets of condolences to the eight murdered people's families, Donny turned it into a partisan attack against top Democrat Chuck Schumer for his part in passing immigration laws.

Unlike the shootings in Las Vegas where Trump declined to talk politics right after it, he immediately launched into a political rant after watching Fox and Friends.

When press secretary Sarah (I lie easily) Huckabee Sanders was confronted with what was different between the two shootings, she came up with a word salad that meant exactly nothing.

In summary, she deflected the question and said there was no difference.

It's disheartening to have a president who embraces lies and the vehicles that spawn them like Fox, or Brietbart.

No doubt the producers of Fox and Friends are enjoying this opportunity to guide the president and influence laws. It's a once-in-a-lifetime gig.

New Board Game: Clue 2.0 - Trapping Trump and His Minions

Good Day World!

It's been like playing a real life game of Clue.

Since Trump came into office it's been one big who done it?

Did he collude with the Ruskies? Did his son? Did AG Sessions?

Who was in the room at Trump Tower?

Who said what in a cozy chat that started off as a way to shovel dirt on Hillary Clinton?

Who changed the Republican platform at the last minute to favor Russia? The Republican National Committee adopted language favoring Russia. Why?

Col. Mustard is a Russian no-good-nic ambassador named Sergey Ivanovich Kislyak.

Trump staffers have tried to deny talking with him, then lied about the content of the their conversations when they were caught.

Unlike the actual board game of Clue, it's not about trying to find out who murdered Mr. Boddy.

Instead, the object is to discover how many of Trump's staff and campaign team members worked with Russia to steal the election.

Win the game when Trump is impeached, and tried for obstruction of justice.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

Trump in Fantasyland

Good Day World!

Since Trump slunk into office, the White House has taken on a new name; Fantasyland.

It's inhabitants use magical thinking when it comes to real world problems.

For example;

When Trump directed his administration to declare America’s opioid overdose crisis a public health emergency, Republicans swiftly praised his “bold national leadership.

But with no new funding, many public health experts and state officials said it was “magical thinking” to imagine that the declaration would stem the tide of opioid overdoses that has already killed 183,000.

Having perfected the art of the con, Trump has managed to infect the Republican party with puppets who believe he's a magician that will "Make America Great Again."

It's almost entertaining watching Trump trod over every law that inhibits his billionaire friends. When he waves his wand of bullshit his supporters say it smells like flowers.

When Trump pulls a tweet out of his hat you can be sure it's a lie. If Trump gets caught lying he doesn't hesitate to double down on the lie by digging into his bag of magic tricks.

Now, you see it. Now, you don't.

Washington DC has become Trump's playground and stage. He signs meaningless executive orders while grandstanding in the Rose Garden.

Trump has always lived in a world of money and privilege - his personal fantasyland. Unfortunately, the rest of the country is now caught up in his charade of life.

Sadly, Trump has always stayed one step ahead of the law. His bag of tricks have served him well thus far. In his world, he's popular and loved.

In reality, he still faces an investigation over collusion with the Russians, obstruction of justice, and the lowest favorability rating of any president in history.

He's going to have to dig deeper into his bag of tricks when the investigation is over and the truth comes out.

Let's hope the bag is finally empty when that happens.

Trumpies in Trouble: The Begininng of the End of the Trump Era

Good Day World!

I'm eagerly awaiting to see which Trumpie(s) is going to be indicted by the Robert S. Mueller III-led investigation into Russia’s meddling into the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Monday, could be the day that one of the shoes - and possibly more - of the centipede, aka Trump campaign (per Sen. McCain) are going to drop.

There’s a list of Trump's top 2016 campaign aides, current and former White House aides and longtime confidants who could be rounded up by Mueller’s team early next week.

A desperate Trump has been trying all last week to divert the investigation with recent demands to investigate Hillary Clinton's emails, and allegedly corrupt uranium sale to Russia.

It might be Tuesday, or even later, before people start getting arrested. A report by Roll Call suggests it could be as early as Monday morning.

I'm just guessing here, but I think Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn will be wearing handcuffs next week.

It's entirely possible however, they could be joined by Carter Page, Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr.

I'll take one more guess about the ramifications of these arrests; Trump is going to call them fake news.

White House Has Taken On A New Meaning

                                    Good Day World!

Guess what happens every time a person of color dares to speak up against Trump's tyranny?

First, the Liar-In-Chief doubles down on his lie, and then he has his minions repeat it, calling the truth "fake news." It's the formula for a dictatorship.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, an African-America, has had to stay home since a barrage of ongoing threats against her for daring to criticize Trump's handling of a conversation with the family of Sgt. La David Johnson, who was killed during an Oct. 4 ambush in Niger.

One racist threat against Wilson that surfaced on Facebook by a Chicago-area man is being investigated by police.

"Need ten good men to help carry out a lynching," the post read. "Must have own horse and saddle. Rope will be provided. This congresswomen (sic) is a disgusting pig. Someone should take their boot to her face."

This is the kind of reaction Trump followers have whenever anyone dares to question their supreme leader's judgement, or actions.

Meanwhile, the one supposed adult in the West Wing, chief of staff John Kelly, spent 20 minutes criticizing Wilson without using her name and incorrectly recounting a 2015 FBI dedication ceremony speech that Wilson gave in Miramar, Fla.

Despite being caught lying, his accusations were refuted by a video of the Congresswoman's speech, Kelly won't apologize - a trick he learned from Trump.

The title, White House, has taken on a whole new meaning under the Trump Administration.

Trump Waging War Against Middle Class Americans

Good Day World!

Just because Donny Little-Hands says his tax plan will be good for middle class Americans, don't believe it.

Just look at his record these last nine months.

He's lied about every aspect of the tax bill just like he did with Obamacare. He thinks his rhetoric is working.

This may come as a surprise to Stump, but the majority of Americans don't trust him. They know he lies. His track record reveals he's a racist (think Muslim ban and the Wall).

His so-called accomplishments have been nothing more than a steady vendetta against President Obama.

The most recent attack is a bill that keeps consumers from suing corporations with class-action suits.

The Republican-led Senate narrowly voted Tuesday to repeal a banking rule that would let consumers band together to sue their banks or credit card companies to resolve financial disputes.

Trump puppet, Mike Pence, cast the final vote to break a 50-50 tie. That's the second time he's been the tie-breaker for legislation that hurts middle class Americans.

Trump tweeted that there would be "NO change" to American’s 401 (k) benefits in tax reform, but a top House negotiator on taxes said Wednesday that tweaks to retirement savings may still be on the table.

Once again, a slap at middle class America.
After nine months in office, the middle class, and poor, have been attacked in every way possible. Rules and regulations that make our country safe are being jettisoned overboard.

From Health and Human Services, to the EPA, there has been a purge of Obama era directors. Their replacements are loyal Trump minions ready to please their master.

The majority of us be damned!

There's a reason why Wall Street is getting the softball treatment from the Trump Administration. We're facing a deadly triad of billionaires, bankers, and corporations.

When I hear people talk about how well the stock market is doing as proof of Chump's genius, I want to vomit. In the first place, more than half of Americans don't even have anything to do with Wall Street.

The market gains have meant nothing to middle class America. By now, anyone capable of independent thought, can see everything Trump's done so far has benefitted the wealthy.

I defy any Trump minions to show a piece of passed legislation where the majority of Americans actually benefit. Not going to happen.

That should be your first clue. What he's done, not what he tells people on twitter, clearly shows attacks against middle class America.

Is Trey Gowdy Going To Pursue The Deadly Niger Mission Like He Did With Benghazi?

Good Day World!

Got a question for Trump surrogate, Trey Gowdy;

"I know how much fun you had in pursuing the Benghazi attack for several years.

Are you going to be as committed in finding out why four servicemen were killed in a deadly ambush in Niger?

Now, a question for the reader:

"What do you think the odds are that the Trump Administration will tell the whole story?"

Here's what we know so far:

* On October 4th, there was a deadly ambush of a Special Force team in Africa.

* Four American's were killed.

* The Pentagon deployed elite commandos in response to the deadly ambush, fearing that one soldier who was missing at the time was alive and might fall into enemy hands.

* The remains of the missing soldier, Army Sgt. La David T. Johnson, were recovered two days after the ambush by local Nigeriens, who turned it over to Nigerien authorities working with U.S. troops.

* Myeshia Johnson, Sgt. La David T. Johnson's wife, tried to view the body before the burial, but the casualty officer advised against it.

It isn't much.

* What really happened to Johnson?

* How did he get separated from his comrades?

* What kind of condition was his body in when it was recovered?

The Trump Administration is fumbling around with excuses for the mission, and why we're even there in the first place.

Calling, Trey Gowdy!

Why Bother Having An Election That's Rigged?

                                  Good Day World!

Next year's House races are over before they even start.

Thanks to extreme redistricting by the GOP, the 2018 House elections are pre-determined.

Republicans will win via segregating voters by party, thanks to their illegal remapping of House districts in 2011.

Worse, many voters aren't voting because they know what the outcome will be in their district. Incumbents aren't held to any accountability, because they know their locked in with the system.

In essence, Republicans have found another way to subvert democracy.

There's 435 seats in the House of Representatives. It takes 218 seats to hold a majority. Even if every Democrat is re-elected, the party is still short 25 members to gain control.

A group called FairVote who have a 99.9 percent accuracy rating for correctly picking political races, doesn't give the Democrats a chance in hell.

When an election is deemed over, before it takes place, you know something is wrong. The anti-democratic nature of House elections is eroding people's confidence in the system.

Why vote when the outcome is pre-determined? Gerrymandering is the GOP's ace-in-the-hole.

The only thing that could possible upset this equation is that if Trump-haters turn out in record numbers for the elections.

I repeat, record numbers.

Right now, the GOP is confident that they have a stranglehold on the 2018 elections. And they probably do.

Sorry, There's No Good Choices for President in 2020

                                     Good Day World!

I'll get right to the point this morning, Americans are going to get screwed again when it comes to leadership!

The 2020 presidential election is just going to sink our government even deeper into the swamp. Get this:

Super mouth, Mark Cuban, thinks he'd make a good president. I'll give you a moment to vomit, and ponder that thought.

Using Trump as the bar, anyone could be president nowadays...as long as they're a billionaire using the politics of fear, and hate. Serial lying seems to work too.

Maybe, I'm being skeptical here.

Someone could probably qualify even if their a millionaire with good computer hackers on their team!

I had to chuckle when Cuban told reporters he's thinking about running as a Republican against Trump. Can you imagine the shit these two will throw at each other?

There's no doubt about it, watching two rich boys fight for the prize will make for good theatre. It would be Romper Room on steroids!

Here comes the part that really shakes me up; the Democrats don't even have a hint of a candidate in the wings for 2020.

I've heard Elizabeth Warren's name tossed about among progressives. But frankly, I don't think this country is ready to crack the glass ceiling and to elect a woman.

Not just because Hillary didn't get elected, but because of the rising tide of misogynistic foul mouthed racists in politics! You have to be blind not to see it.

Oh yeah. Then there's Bernie Sanders. He's announced he's going to run as an Independent. The chances of him winning (assuming you like him) are about as distant as landing the first man on Venus.

At this time, I don't see any hope of a savior to rescue our country. Two years, and counting...

Time for me to walk on down the road...

Our Dying Democracy: Not Dead Yet, But on Life Support

Good Day World!

We're watching democracy die a slow and painful death.

Some political pundits go back to Richard Nixon's appointment of Lewis Powell to the Supreme Court, as the beginning of the end of democracy as we once knew it.

Powell, in 1971, authored the infamous Powell Memo to the US Chamber of Commerce, strongly suggesting that corporate leaders needed to get politically involved and, essentially, take over everything from academia to our court system to our political system.

But Powell's crowning achievement came in 1976, in the Buckley vs Valeo case, where he declared that when rich people or corporations donate to politicians, all that money that got transferred to the them wasn't considered bribery.

Instead, incredibly Powell said the donations to politicians were Constitutionally-protected by the First Amendment-defined "Free Speech."

The right-leaning Supreme Court radically expanded that decision in 2010, with the "Citizens United" ruling.

The results of these rulings crippled our democratic process and opened the door for an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery.

That bribery opens the door to nominating a president, or in electing a president. It doesn't stop there, however. Governors and U.S. senators and congressional members also benefit from these horrible rulings.

Straight up; our current political system is based on paying off major contributors, who want and expect, to get favors for themselves.

Republican politicians and the billionaires who own the corporations are now dropping any pretense at all of caring about the fate and future of our country’s fiscal health, so long as they get their tax cuts Trump promised them.

Our time-honored system of voting is being attacked by foreign powers, and greedy Republicans who are perfectly willing to cheat the system in their quest for more power.

Still, there's hope for America.

Thus far, the foundations of our democracy are slowing down the attacks from Trump, and his billionaire buddies.

The courts are doing their best to uphold the laws of the land, and the Constitution's guarantee of freedom and justice for all.

It's up to voters next year to reverse this takeover of our democracy. I suspect the majority of Americans don't like what their seeing.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

High Stakes: The U.S. Court System vs Trump

Good Day World!

There was one thing I counting on when Trump got elected; it was our court system.

Despite numerous attempts to bypass the Constitution, Trump has been stumped by our court system numerous times.

The federal courts just shut down Trump's latest attempt to keep Muslims from entering the country by striking down his latest version of a travel ban.

The reason the judges keep turning Trump down is his own words on the subject of keeping Muslims out of America during the presidential campaign.

Trump enjoyed the campaign rallies where he was able to whip up racism and say whatever came into his small brain with abandon. With no adults watching his every move.

Reality has harshed Trump's high with repercussions in the real world. He's failed to ban Muslims.

Once again, on Thursday, a Federal judge overturned something Trump tried to get away with. Pardoning Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

US District Judge Susan Bolton said in her ruling that a presidential pardon may have granted Arpaio mercy, but not the power of "judicial record-keeping."

"The pardon undoubtedly spared defendant from any punishment that might otherwise have been imposed," Bolton wrote. "It did not, however, 'revise the historical facts' of this case."

Here's the deal; a presidential pardon does not remove a criminal conviction.

In her ruling, Bolton wrote that the purpose of a pardon was not to wipe a defendant's record clean or "blot out guilt," but to prevent further punishment for the crime and restore the his or her civil rights.

Trump ignored the normal protocol by granting Arpaio, who hadn't even been sentenced yet, a pardon.

In the real world you can't just ignore the typical Justice Department process.

Pardons are suppose to be requested through formal applications submitted to the Office of the Pardon Attorney at least five years after the applicant is sentenced.

There is one thing that concerns me, Trump has been appointing judges to our system. This doesn't bode well for the future of justice for everyone in America.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

The Day I Realized John Kelly Wasn't The Only Adult In The White House

Good Day World!

That does it!

I thought there was at least one adult in the West Wing.

Looks like I was wrong.

You know I'm not talking about Trump. Everyone on the planet knows he's just a mean man-child by now.

I'm talking about the WH Chief of Staff, John Kelly.

As a Vietnam veteran, I listened to him when he gave that emotional speech about our military dead and he really had me going after hearing that part of him walking through Arlington Cemetery to be with "his friends."

When he made the accusation about Representative Frederica S. Wilson making a speech where she glorified herself and not the two FBI agents the dedication ceremony was about...I hesitated.

Somehow that story, injected between the patriotic platitudes, didn't sound quite right. Why would he even bring it up, I wondered?

The answer came later that day, and the next. The story was bullshit. Certified grade A cow paddy!

A video emerged of her 9-minute speech and proved he made the story up. But why?

That's when I realized there were no adults in the West Wing. He lied to cover up for Trump's bumbling phone call. He tried to turn the story into a partisan attack. To deflect the truth.

I have to admit I was disappointed. I wasn't surprised when Sarah Huckabee Sanders continued the farce and even got a cheap jab in herself.

This whole event stems from Trump's stupidity. As usual. The guy can't sound sincere for the life of him. He should of taken Kelly's advise and not even called.

But Trump doesn't like to take advise. So he called and upset the fallen soldier's widow. When confronted about his call he impulsively lied...it's second nature to the ex-reality star.

Trump kept up the spat this morning like the spiteful man-child he is.

As long as everyone around Trump lies to please him we're going to have endless controversies. Like the last nine months.

Sad.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

Strange Days: Dubya Dishes on Trump's Presidency

Good Day World!

It's one of those cold mornings where hot coffee seems like a gift from the gods.

I'm feeling reflective this morning.

I've been thinking back to when George W. Bush was president, and how much I loathed him and his war-mongering cronies.

Like cartoonist, and pundits, throughout his two-term debacle, I viewed the man as an idiot. He did little to dissuade me of that opinion during his time in the Oval Office.

But a strange thing happened.

Bush doesn't look that bad in retrospect, especially when compared to the psychopath we now have as president. At least he was able to use words with more than four-letters in them, unlike Trump.

Even stranger. Bush came out of wherever he's been hiding and made a rare speech. And what he said made sense!

“Bigotry seems emboldened,” Bush said in his opening remarks at the Bush Institute’s Spirit of Liberty event in New York City.

“Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication,” the former president told his audience.

But that's not all:

“We’ve seen our discourse degraded by casual cruelty,” he continued.

“At times, it could seem like the forces pulling us apart are stronger than the forces binding us together. Argument turns too easily into animosity. Disagreement escalates into dehumanization.”

Good grief! What's got into Georgie? I had to pinch myself to see if I was awake when I saw the video of him speaking.

Things are so chaotic in our society today that a once reviled former president sounds like Mahatma Gandhi. Imagine, Bush promoting peace and love?

Some pundits may point to this moment and say it's another sign the world is coming to an end.

I'm not sure about that. I can think of a lot of other signs that point to an impending collapse of our country, but not necessarily the world.

When that horrible final day does arrive, I doubt we'll get a warning.

Time for me to walk on down the road...

The Perils of Laughter

There's nothing like a good laugh, right?  Laughter is generally beneficial for your health, promoting stress reduction, improving your...
