The Day of the Subpoena: Trump and Minions Face Accounting for Actions

                                        Good Day World!

The hammer is coming down!

After enjoying two years of stifling Democrats who tried to file subpoenas against Trump and his corrupt minions, the day of reckoning has finally come.

The House has been reclaimed by Democrats in a crushing defeat for Trump and the GOP. The floodgates are now open and subpoenas have already started to flow from several new House committees.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler warned acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker that when he testified before the committee today, that if he was going to use executive privilege and not answer all of their questions, he'd be subpoenaed.

Whitaker finally agreed after a heated back and forth exchange with House lawmakers. But when he showed up this morning he refused to talk about his conversations with Trump.

In the coming weeks, and months, I suspect a lot of corrupt Trumplicans will be subpoenaed by numerous House committees.

As the Republican chorus line of culprits await their Day of the Subpoena, Americans can slowly start to heal from the damage inflicted on our government by Trump and his supporters as the wheels of justice grind on.

Here's a fun exercise: Guess what Trump minion will get the next subpoena?

Underscoring Absolute Absurdity in America

Good Day World!

We live in a time where absurdity is just one of the societal ill-effects from a dumbed-down America during the Trump era.

Here's three examples that followed Trump's State of the Union address:

1. Melania Trump causes furor for only wearing one glove
2. Joshua Trump (no relative) falls asleep during Trump's speech
3. Nancy Pelosi claps in Trump's face

These stories are so ridiculous that they have to qualify as absurd.

More Absurdities

1. Right-wing Evangelicals claim God sent Trump
2. Ignoring the definition of stupidity, Trump repeatedly denies facts
3.Compromising has become a lost art.
4. Republicans deny global warming
5. In just two years America has become an international laughing stock thanks to Trump.

The good news is things can change.

When the committees, grand juries, and special counsel all finish their research, the odds of Trump getting re-elected are pretty slim.

As for the odds of Trump actually finishing his term, I'll go with that famous betting house, Paddy's, in Ireland: they're saying 50-50. Care to place a bet?

Poll Poll On The Internet: Whose the Greatest President Yet?

Good Day USA!

If, for some perverse reason, you listened to Trump's assault on democracy, aka the State of the Union address yesterday, one thing was very clear...

Trump's ego is soooo yuge that he thinks we believe in his alternative universe.

When he described himself as the most successful president in US history during his first two years, the majority of viewers knew that was pure bullshit.

Americans are fully aware that Trump is a serial liar, as it's been documented here and here.

In reality, Americans are sick of Trump demeaning government agencies and Congress when they don't agree with him.

A new monthly job approval poll that began this month with Gallup, clearly shows Trump's current low approval ratings.

Trump has a tortured relationship with polls. When they show he's doing something right he touts them in a victory lap on his twitter feed.

However, when the polls show Americans think he's an inept POTUS showing deep disapproval of his actions, he turns on them like a boomerang, and assaults their veracity like a honey badger.

Poll Poll on the internet, who is the greatest president of them all?

Answer: It sure the hell isn't Trump!

Executive Time Pause As Trump Gives State of Disunion Talk

Good Day USA!

As Trump stands on the elevated dais in the House today, it'll be a rare moment, because he's actually going through the motions that a president is supposed to.

Giving a State of the Union address has traditionally been a time when the president seeks to unite the country and talk about a glowing future for all Americans.

To be clear, Trump has spent roughly 60 percent of his working hours in so-called "executive time" in the last three months.

So, taking the 60-70 minutes to pretend to be a working president is important.

Unlike traditional State of the Union speeches, Trump's version is more like a Game of Thrones episode where a king strikes out against his own subjects and consolidates his power.

His PR minions claim he's going to give a speech that will unify the country. The chances of that happening is somewhat akin to Republicans believing in global warming.

Trump has already made that clear by hinting he's going to call for a state of emergency if Congress doesn't give him his vanity wall.

The threat of shutting down the government again is still in Trump's arsenal, regardless of Republican senators warning that it wouldn't get their support.

When Trump talks to the nation he will be focusing on his base and claiming to be the best president the country has ever seen...despite massive evidence to the contrary.

He'll repeat all his lies about caravans of terrorists heading towards our unguarded southern border; completely ignoring the reality of the current walls and other methods of stopping illegal immigrants. He's going to stick with his false statistics and threatening scenarios.

In other words, Trump will lie his ass off and defy fact-checkers because his base doesn't read their rebuttals.

A Question About Democracy: To See Trump's Taxes, Or Not To See?

                                        Good Day World!

Theories about why Trump won't release his taxes have been trotted out to no one's satisfaction since he snuck into office.

Because Republicans controlled Congress for his first two years, Trump didn't have to worry about releasing his taxes. None of the spineless jellyfish dared to stand up and ask for them.

Fast forward to today. The Democrats control the House and one of the first things they're doing is going after those secretive tax returns.

To know one's surprise, a pitched battle has already begun as Trump's minions try to derail the Democrat's mission.

Democrats are confident IRS code 6103 gives them the power to request Trump's tax returns.

House Ways  and Means Chairman Richard Neal of Massachusetts is carefully deliberating the best way to get Trump's tax returns amid building pressure from activists on the left.

Because this request is unprecedented, combined with the political drama surrounding Trump's returns, we can expect an extended legal review from the Treasury Department.

Why? Simply put, the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is one of Trump's closest minions. Hard to imagine he won't do everything he can to thwart the Democrats efforts.

Thus far, were embroiled in a Shakespearian drama that asks the big question, To See Trump's Taxes, Or Not To See?"

Stay tuned for the final act.

Super Bowl Sunday Features Super Liar on Face The Nation

Good Day World!

It's a big day for Donny.

After cowing all the owners in the NFL amid the "kneeling controversy" with the help of billionaire buddy and Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, he gets to appear in an interview today on Face The Nation.

It must feel like a victory to the orange anus.

The owners of the NFL have shunned all of his efforts to purchase a team over the years. That stinging rebuke must have battered his already fragile ego.

In Trump's tiny brain he will be the hero for the day. The actual football game will just be an aside from his triumphant moment where he'll spread lies like butter on bread for his minions.

There's some question about how many viewers will watch his Bigly Interview. It's difficult to say how many people will tune him in because millions will be watching Super Bowl pregame activities.

I think it depends on how many football fans want to see someone drag politics into the middle of one of sports biggest shows.

Whatever Trump chooses to rant about there's one thing you can count on - there will be a swift rebuttal.
