Legos Announce New Set Inspired by Trump's Attack on the Capitol

The biggest toy company in the world, Legos, has announced a new, and sure to be controversial, set titled The Insurrection set which displays the attack on the nation's Capital.

This new set follows Lego's foray with iconic television shows like Friends that inspired the 25th Anniversary with a Central Perk set of the New York coffee shop that served as a hub for the characters on Friends.

FYI - the set will go on sale in September. 

The new Insurrection set features 10,089 pieces and is fun to build and display in your house for a conversation piece and attention grabber.

Check out the props that range from a hanging scaffold, a temporary stage, the presidential SUV, to fence barriers.

The set also includes mini figures of characters like Trump, Mike Pence, Ivanka Trump, Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Mike Lindell, John Eastman, Cassidy Hutchinson, and Pat Cipolloni. 

In addition, there'll be mini figures for all the members of Congress and Capitol Police.

Builders will be able to re-enact the scene where the 11 Republican lawmakers plotted an electoral overthrow with Trump.

Imagine the excitement of putting little Donnie on a stage whipping up hatred before thousands of crazed supporters!

Re-enact Trump's wild ride in the presidential SUV when he attacked the secret service agents because they would not drive him to the steps of the Capitol after sending the armed mob there.

You'll be in charge of sending rioters past barricades and into the Capitol itself where they can desecrate the people's house.

The Lego company is looking forward to monitoring sales for the Insurrection set with hopes of creating other political sets to preserve American history. 

This new Insurrection set is a fictional parody and I doubt if Lego would ever go this far... well, never say never.

Trumplican's are domestic terrorists who get startled and freeze when confronted with the truth.

 A fainting goat may fall over and appear to faint. But in actuality it goes into a myotonic state 

Trump worshipping minions go into a catatonic state when they see and listen to him.

Fainting goats - also called Myotonic Goats - in America have a southern origin. They were first discovered in Tennessee in the 1880s.

The majority of the followers of the Trump cult hail from southern states that fought with the Confederacy to overturn American democracy. 

An interesting fact: The Myotonic Goat is very similar to the condition seen in humans which is known as Congenital Myotonia, in case you wanted to see another tie-in between the two species.

Why is Jim Jordan in Congress Defending an Insurrection When he Should be in Prison?

He was involved in the most sweeping sex abuse scandal in the history of American higher education - to say nothing of college sports.

Jim Jordan, who was the assistant wrestling coach saw daily sexual abuse (as several witnesses testified under oath), but his involvement was swept under the rug by courts who gave small settlements to the abused athletes at the Ohio State University wrestling program.

Somehow, against all odds and sanity, the same sexual abuse enabler ran for Congress and won the seat for Ohio since 2007. Since that time, he's risen to the higher ranks of Republican extremists with antics like chairing the clown show Benghazi hearings that were thinly disguised attacks against Hillary Clinton's political future.

Jordan's crowning achievement thus far has been leading MAGA followers down rabbit holes where the 2020 election was stolen, and Biden is to blame for all the economic chaos in the world and America.

By not wearing a jacket in Congress like everyone else on both sides of the aisle, he's staked out his individual "tough guy" image meant to impress the weak of mind.

Now we know eleven Republican lawmakers from the House - including Jordan - sat down with the former president and plotted to overturn the 2020 election hours before Trump sent out his infamous tweet, " Big protest in DC on January 6. Be there, it will be wild." 

When the Jan. 6 committee subpoenaed Jordan about his involvement in the coup attempt, he refused to appear.

Jordan's office has admitted that he was one of the lawmakers whose texts to Mark Meadows (regarding overturning election results) was recently discovered.

There's no doubt that being Trump's favorite Ohio lapdog has furthered Jordan's career. Like the rest of the seditious Republican lawmakers involved in the insurrection the chance of their going to jail is slim to none.

Jordan should be rotting in prison for his part in the worst sex scandal in American college history. Instead, he's openly defying the Constitution with the most crooked president in the history of the United States.

Is Mark Meadows the Un-Named Witness Trump Tried to Intimidate?

It was almost another "perfectly fine" phone call to someone Trump wanted to do his will. 

But that someone - who just happened to be an upcoming witness for the Jan. 6 panel - didn't pick up the phone and instead reported Trump's attempt to reach him/her to their lawyer.

The lawyer contacted and informed the Jan. 6 Committee.

The committee contacted the Department of Justice which is now investigating the attempted phone call from the former president.

The question is "who is this upcoming witness" that Trump was so worried about he took a stupid risk and personally called to intimidate?

Trump's Lawyers Think Mark Meadows is Going Down

My guess is the call was made to Mark Meadows.

I say this for several reasons. 

First, Meadows hasn't totally cooperated with the J6 panel. 

He was cooperating at one point, then Trump told him to clam up. And he did.

Secondly, the last few J6 hearings have dropped some bombs about Trump from close White House aides that paint a picture of Meadows complicity in not stopping Trump's brazen plans to overthrow the election.

Meadow's former assistant Cassidy Hutchinson provided damning testimony that revealed how afraid he was to deal with Trump's lunacy.

You can bet that the DOJ has been exploring Meadow's actions closely, especially after Hutchinson's testimony. They may have enough on him to offer a deal - immunity from charges (or reduced sentence) in exchange for first-hand quotes from Trump directly linking him to his co-conspirators in Congress and outside lawmakers and activists working with him to stop the electoral process.

Finally, it's not likely Meadows would take a fall and go to prison for Trump, regardless of how afraid he is of him. With new information flooding out of the J6 panel weekly the odds of Meadows taking flak from witnesses increases.

In summary, the DOJ would have the smoking gun it needs to indict and convict Trump of treason and other serious charges.

Who'll Be First to Indict Trump? 'Teflon Don' is Stuck with a Series of Sticky Legal Charges

The courts are finally closing in on Teflon Don.

Because he's never been convicted - thus far - of a major felony during his law-breaking career some people refer to Donald Trump as the Teflon Don.

I'm thinking that nickname is going to have to be changed in the near future. Why you ask?

Let's start with the fact that you can Google a List of Lawsuits involving Trump on Wikipedia. It's a long list. He's paying out more for lawyers than Uruguay's annual GNP. Eventually he'll run out of his donor's contributions and the RNC will stop funding his legal battles.

Here's the most serious court threats he faces:

It's a tie for the most serious threats to the Teflon Don between the Department of Justice's investigation on the insurrection, and the Fulton County Georgia charges of interfering with a state election.

There's a separate DOJ investigation involving 15 boxes of classified documents that were taken to Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida. The DOJ convened a grand jury who are currently looking into the matter.

The hits keep on coming...

Two related investigations by New York State and City officials are currently being carried out to determine whether the Trump Organization has committed financial fraud. One is a criminal case being conducted by Manhattan district attorney and the other is a civil case being conducted by the New York Attorney General.

How worried is Trump?

I'll put it this way; yesterday Liz Cheney on the Jan. 6 panel reported an incident of Trump calling an upcoming witness (who didn't answer the phone). He/she contacted their lawyer who called the Department of Justice who's investigating the incident. He's so afraid of the truth that he's personally trying to intimidate witnesses. 

The Jan. 6 committee has been doing an excellent job of getting the story out about Trump's plans to overthrow the 2020 election. More witnesses show up every week with damning testimonies against the Teflon Don.

The only question I have is who is going to indict and convict the Teflon Don first?

Today's Jan. 6 Hearing is a Continuation of the Summers Biggest Hit on TV

Netflix and other streaming platforms have been getting some serious competition from an unlikely source - Congressional hearings.

It's unprecedented. It's the Jan. 6 Committee which has been attracting tens of millions of viewers this summer.

With six hearings already history the seventh today promises the same production value that has attracted millions of viewers thus far. According to Nielsen, there's been a cumulative audience of 55.3 million. 

That's without counting all the reruns and prime time recap programs of the hearings on platforms like MSNBC and PBS. Even more impressive are all the major news stories the hearings have been competing against.

The committee has offered millions of people a riveting narrative of Trump's coup attempt based on facts. The documentary images and eyewitness testimonies given under oath are noteworthy.

The Jan. 6 committee has set a new standard for Congressional hearings by making them more compelling without dumbing them down. They put on a mass-audience civics lesson for a nation that no longer teaches civics in too many of its classrooms.

The "series" has carried a strong narrative; a separate theme for each individual "episode"; good use of camera, sound, and graphics to emphasize key points. We've seen compelling characters like Cassidy Hutchinson whose revelations have shaken Trump world.

No one is predicting that Trump supporters will drop their idol regardless of the massive amount of evidence being shown. 

A combination of political polarization, the advanced state of media fragmentation and the power of the right-wing media machine working overtime to discredit the hearings, has all but assured Trump's Big Lie will live on for the foreseeable future.

But the rest of America will know the truth. That's as important as holding all the culprits accountable for their attempt to upend a peaceful transition of power and our democracy.

Where in the World is Waldo/Gaetz?

In case you never heard of the Where's Waldo series it features a fictional character who travels all over the world.

In the real-world Matt Gaetz has been flittering around the country avoiding any unnecessary publicity. He comes out of hiding long enough to vote on something then skitters off like a cockroach to right-wing pod casts with his buddy Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Waldo the character is known for his distinct wardrobe of a red and white striped shirt, blue jeans, brown boots, and his red and white bobbled hat. His travels extend beyond this world and into magical lands.

Gaetz is known for his snappy mob-inspired suits and is currently under investigation since 2020 for having sex with a 17-year-old girl and paying her for it. His magical place was Jeffrey Epstein's private island for pedophiles. 

Waldo came from the Land of Waldos, which is filled with Waldos just like him.

Gaetz comes from the Land of Trump, which is filled with assholes just like him.

Waldo's magic hat contains any number of useful objects of various sizes.

Supreme Court Justices Have Been Colluding with Right-Wing Evangelical Ministry for Years

The foundation for the ruination of the reputation of the highest court in the land was laid by right-wing evangelicals years ago.

At least three Supreme Court justices have been discovered privately praying with leaders from Liberty Counsel, a right-wing ministry with a political agenda.

The decay began years ago when Robert Schenck, the founder of Faith in Action in the Nation's Capital, which was absorbed by Liberty Counsel in 2018, told Rolling Stone he prayed with the justices while with the organization.

Recently Peggy Nienaber, the executive director at Liberty Counsel, was caught bragging about praying with the justices the Monday after Roe was overturned, according to an Above the Law - article.

One day Nienaber was accidently recorded admitted the relationship she's had with the justices...

So, to recap Nienaber who's a religious zealot, has been praying with some of the justices inside the Supreme Court building. Her organization has had undue influence by bringing cases and arguments before the high court. Most recently they filed amicus brief on the Dobb's decision.

So far, the only justices' names that have been associated with Nienaber and the private prayer sessions are Alito, Scalia, and Thomas. It doesn't mean there's not more justices violating their oaths. We just haven't found out yet if there are.

The unimaginable has happened. The court is a toxic brew representing a minority of Americans in 2022. 

This country's founders mistakenly thought that giving nine people unlimited judicial power and rendering them untouchable in our system of government was a good idea. Ouch!

I suspect those founders are turning over in their graves at what the Supreme Court has become now ... a sounding board for fascism.

What About a 'Stranger Things' Spinoff Based Upon American Politics?

You're going to have to work with me on this one. 

After the final season of Netflix's wildly popular Stranger Things the producers are talking about spinoffs.

I think that's a great idea and have a proposition for Upside Down Productions the producers of Stranger Things.

Make a TV series about a group of voting age individuals from San Francisco who are trying to find and destroy the source of evil in American politics.

The diverse group of men and women will have various superpowers that they use to probe the soft underbelly of corrupt political parties and expose their attacks against the republic.

As each episode peels back the political graft and constitutional violations a pattern begins to form until the group discover that an Upside-Down orange demon is behind a zombie army of Republicans set on destroying America.

The demon came to power on a platform of hate pushed by loyal minions willing to install an authoritarian state and worship him.

Our heroes will have to use all of the tricks in the book(s) to infiltrate the spreading slime that is threatening the electoral system and other government offices polluted by the demon's reach and hold them accountable.

The group is running against time to close the gash that the demon and his minions have opened up in our democracy allowing the monster-y dimension the Upside Down to gain entry.

We'll follow a closely bonded group of characters that will capture our hearts while watching their weekly struggles in saving American politics.

Project Fascism: Florida Universities Forced to Survey Faculty and Student's Political Beliefs and Viewpoints

Der wannabee Nazi Gov. DeSantis is busy transforming Florida into a fascist enclave in America.

His latest attack on democracy is directed towards the universities who are daring to feature diverse curriculums and shunning hate groups who foment violence on campuses. 

DeSantis' goal is to make Florida universities accept groups like the KKK and the Proud Boys who are known to threaten minorities and liberals. He wants them to have equal time in a perverted view of "intellectual diversity" that extreme right-wingers are pushing across the country.

This unprecedented project was tucked away in a bill the Republican-led legislature passed Tuesday.

So far, it looks like the survey responses won't be anonymous which is a red flag. That means professors and other university staff could be targeted, held back in their careers or even fired for their beliefs.

The bill's sponsor, state Sen. Ray Rodrigues claims faculty will not be promoted or fired based on their responses. If that were a fact, why doesn't the bill say there won't be repercussions? 

The bill doesn't specify what the survey results will be used for, but DeSantis and Rodrigues suggested that the state could institute budget cuts if university students and staff do not respond in a satisfactory manner.

What's a satisfactory manner mean?!!

The survey's details haven't been released yet, but DeSantis said during a press conference that the purpose of the survey is to discover, "the extent to which competing ideas and perspectives are presented," and whether students "feel free to express beliefs and viewpoints on campus and in the classroom."

In other words, the universities are supposed to allow groups with dangerous philosophies to preach their hate and lies in classrooms and on campus without any recourse. Riots will become the new reality when the newly empowered trolls are sanctioned to intimidate and attack other students and staff.

Common sense be damned. DeSantis and the corrupt Republican party are on a mission to transform our democracy into an authoritarian state. And Florida is ground zero.

Are You Extremely Proud to be an American? Then You're in the Minority

Just 36% of Americans recently told Gallup pollsters they were extremely proud to be an American. 

That's the lowest percentage since Gallup started asking the question at the beginning of this century, and it continues a long-term decline of national pride.

Where has our national pride gone? Long time going.

Fifty-five percent of Americans said they were extremely proud to be Americans before 2015. It was the highest reading during a time of patriotism surging throughout the country after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

There's still a majority of Americans that are proud to be American. Just not extremely proud. 

This measure of change varies over the years and is affected by factors like the economy, the popularity of a sitting president, and high-profile national events such as the 9/11 terrorists' attacks.

It should come as no surprise that all three political parties have become less inclined to say they are proud of their country. That can be attributed to deepening political divisions and party gridlock in Washington. 

Throw in national challenges regarding race relations, an insurrection by a former president and inflation and you have a recipe for an unhappy country.

Where is it Safe in America?

Today's challenge: tell me where it's safe to go in America?

I would really like to know where we can go without becoming a "soft target?"

Churches aren't the safe sanctuaries they were when I was growing up in the fifties and sixties.

Supermarkets aren't safe. Movie theatres aren't safe. Parks aren't safe. Schools are no longer safe. Concerts and Jazz festivals aren't safe. It's not safe in malls or amusement parks either. 

Parades are not safe - even on the 4th of July. Look what happened yesterday in Highland Park, Chicago. The city parade became a killing zone as six people were killed and 31 more were wounded and sent to nearby hospitals.

Marathons and sporting events are not safe from random killers with AR-15 type platforms designed for combat. State and country fairs aren't safe. And the list goes on.

The terrible and sad answer to the question is - It's not safe anywhere in America. There are no sacred grounds and places to go where you know you're going to be safe from armed maniacs on a mission.

It's our own damn fault.

The United States is the gun capitol of the world. No other nation's citizens are outnumbered by guns. We lead the world in mass killings and lack of gun laws. The result is the hellscape we now face the moment we step outside our door.

It's infuriating to know that an extreme minority of Americans have stopped any chance of treating and curing the gun virus in our society. Republicans beholden to the NRA will make sure the problem of guns will never go away. This Faustian pact is why it's always going to be easier to get a gun than a driver's license.

Until this nation unites on gun safety laws (and the states get proactive enforcing them), we're doomed to always being the most dangerous country in the world.

4th of July: Celebrating Freedom Today... if We Can Keep It

Today marks the day the United States officially became its own nation when Americans adopted the Declaration of Independence.

Fun fact: 4th of July became a federal holiday in 1870. It became a paid holiday for federal employees in 1941.

This 4th of July our freedom is once again threatened. Democracy stood at a crossroad once before during the Civil War, but the nation was eventually reunited. That unity has been shattered. The country is divided between adopting an authoritarian government under Trump or retaining our Democracy.

Our freedoms have come at a hefty price in lives scarified to protect the republic from foreign and domestic enemies. Defending Democracy has never been more important than it is now. If we descend into another civil war, I'm not sure this country can bounce back again.

A Big Lie has split the nation asunder where truth is on trial and election denial is a mark of the Devil himself - Trump. 

The cult that has sprung up around him intends to drag non-believers through hell on earth. The death knell for freedom will be rung... if real Americans don't take up the fight against the extremist elements trying to turn the country into a kingdom for Trump.

Today is 'I Forgot Day' in Case You Forgot

Don't feel bad if you forgot today is "I Forgot Day."

This day is for you and me. There are no recriminations for not recalling what happened years ago, or hours ago.

As a 71-year-old man I'm glad when I remember things, but I think it's important to celebrate a no-pressure day where I can be excused for my faulty memory.

While we may be surrounded with calendars, whether physical or digital, we still forget important dates, occasions, and tasks. That's why today is like a pardon for being human.

So, Who Came Up with the Idea?

This unusual holiday was created by Gaye Anderson, from DeMotte, Indiana. 

She started this holiday because there was a period in her life where she was having a hard time remembering simple things like her kids' birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

However, instead of being bothered with her forgetfulness, she created this day to just relax and well, forget.

In addition, this day is meant to encourage people to apologize and make up for all the events and occasions they might have forgotten. The idea is also about adopting action plans that help us remember things.

With a memory like Swiss cheese, this day is always a real challenge to improve my retention rate which is so low on the Richter scale it barely registers from day to day.

Flying the 'Unfriendly Skies' in the 21st Century

Once upon a time a certain airline coined a slogan that made it famous. Do you remember, or have you ever heard the jingle 

Fly the Friendly Skies?" 

United Airlines used that slogan from 1965 to 1996 then dropped it. I think air travel was starting to lose its luster around then for numerous reasons hence goodby friendly skies.

The days of efficiency and warmth at United Airlines and their competitors are long gone in the 21st Century. Air travel has turned into a hellscape for travelers.

Pandemic mask regulations turned air travel into a nightmare for passengers with people freaking out about wearing their masks and causing flights to be sidetracked. Assaults have become commonplace in the last two years. 

This July 4th weekend travelers are watching their flights vanish in a chaos of cancellations because the airlines can't handle the massive demand. There are not enough pilots, air traffic controllers, steward and stewardess, ground crews, and on and on.

More than 1,500 flights in the US were cancelled yesterday and many more cancellations are expected this weekend.

This chaos can be blamed on the pandemic. Airlines were downsizing due to lack of customers, and they were encouraging pilots to take early retirements. Apparently, no one planned for the day the pandemic was no longer an issue and customers would return.

You don't want to be in an airport anywhere in the country today. There's a lot of pissed off people who spent significant amounts of money for their first weekend escape in two years who are watching their plans collapse in crowded airports.

All but two of the 13 major airlines have higher cancellation rates this year compared to pre-pandemic averages in the same time period between 2017 and 2019.

On one hand I get it. People want to travel. But it seems to me the odds of flying are a risky proposition this year. Turn on the news for confirmation. I'm just saying there's other methods of travel.

Welcome Ketanji Brown Jackson: The First Female African American Justice Starts Work Today

Ketanji Brown Jackson is taking her place on the Supreme Court today. 

I hope she has a hard shell because the group she's going to be working with are detested by a majority of Americans.

The Supreme court she's joining has the worst popularity ratings the institution has ever experienced. Only 25% of Americans have confidence in SCOTUS. The prior low was 34%. In other words, only one in four Americans believe the Supreme Court is legitimate and trustworthy.

It's like joining the infamous Chicago "Black Sox" baseball team the summer after they were caught cheating. Getting respect will take years and a new generation - or court in Jackson's case.

A new term begins in three months.

Jackson's supporters say that her time serving on the low courts has prepared her for the high court and a divided multi-member body. 

The point is she's not going into the job with her eyes closed. She's fully aware of the conservative takeover but believes she can make a difference someday.

By all reports, Jackson is looking forward to her career. I wish her all the best in her fight for justice.

A Fairytale Fail: Trump's Fictional Fantasy Unraveled

When we last looked into Trump's fairytale about the 2020 election being stolen, it appeared his lies would prevail with his loyal minions continuing to enable his false narrative.

Then one of the minions in the White House had a "Go to Jesus" moment and decided to point out that the emperor had no clothes.

Ex-White House aide to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Cassidy Hutchinson, pulled the veil back on what Trump was actually doing on Jan. 6 as the Capitol was being assaulted by his supporters.

The reality that Trump was the Pied Piper that lured his rabid followers into an insurrection was laid out in great detail by Cassidy who had a ringside seat to his fatal fantasy.

When White House counsel Pat Cipollone told Cassidy that "we need to make sure that this doesn't happen" referring to Trump going to the Capitol, she realized just how deranged he was. 

Upon learning of his actions in the presidential limousine where he tried to take the wheel away from the secret service driver because he didn't want to go back to the White House, Cassidy was convinced he was living in a fantasy world where lies are truth and truth is fake news.

In order to expose Trump's lies Cassidy took a brave step in cooperating with the Jan. 6 committee. She's already been threatened by MAGA morons since her live testimony yesterday.

It wasn't easy for her to unmask Trump who she supported during her time in office. Yet she did it. Whatever her reason for exposing Trump was I applaud her for telling the truth. That's something few Trump supporters can claim - telling the truth.

She exposed the dark underbelly of the beast, and it was ugly. I can only hope the Department of Justice finds her testimony as damning as I did.
