Rock 'n Roll heyday photos on display at Shoe Shop in Sherman Oaks

Greg Papazian was a teenager when he began taking photos of rock stars for several famous clubs, like the Whiskey a Go-Go. He took over 1600 photos before going to work at the family's shoe store. He became a cobbler, but one day a friend talked him into turning the store into an art gallery featuring his rare photos.

Greg Papazian is shown above with two of his favorite photos. Annie Lennox (left) taken in 1983 at the Palace Theatre in Hollywood, and Ron Wood, taken at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1973. He took photos of such famous groups as: Led Zeppelin; Peter Frampton; Procol Harum; Rod Stewart; The Who; Edgar Winter; Humble Pie; Uriah Heep; Deep Purple; Fleetwood Mac; Eric Clapton; Chuck Berry; Bee Gees; and T. Rex.

Lakers swat late surging Hornets to extend un-beaten record to 7-0

Before the season began those NBA pundits that talked of the Wild Western Conference being between three teams can think again. The division champs are back and just who do you suppose can stop them?

Certainly not those two top teams mentioned in the same breath as the Lakers? The New Orleans Hornets or the Houston Rockets. The Lakers have brutalized both teams while making a statement...they are the TEAM TO BEAT!

ABOVE - Kobe Bryant works on Morris Peterson during the fourth quarter. The final score was 93-86, although most of the game the Hornets were down by as much as 21 points. No team has got any closer than 7 points to the Lakers yet this year. The Lakers motto this season is: Remember what happened in Boston!

So take notice you Celtic fans. This is the Lakers year!

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PHOTO?

Even in this day and age of gender neutrality this just doesn't seem right. You know what I mean? There's just no way she could....

So this is what could happen when you go into one of those bathrooms marked for both sexes.

GM scraps model debuts as the industry cuts expenses

Times are hard for American automakers. The big 3 are looking for a loan from the government. It's apparent to me that their going to have to retool, and quit selling land yachts and to catch up with the energy needs for today's struggling economy.

More Vietnam Era Posters...this Veterans Day 2008

Some Vietnam Era Posters : Remembering Comrades on Veterans Day

I was a Combat Engineer with the 31st Eng. Battalion, 79th Eng. Division and served in Vietnam in 1970. I also was part of a combination of American and ARVN forces that went into Cambodia in May/June; pursuing NVA Leadership Command and Control.

I lost too many brothers over there. They will always be alive however, in my heart and good memories. They were so young. I was 19 years-old. I didn't know shit about politics or anything like that. All I learned was how to survive in a very bad place. When I came home it was a bad place for veterans like me.

Now, I see Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffering with PTSD, like me, and I wonder when will it ever end? When will we ever learn that war is not the answer?

Peace brothers and sisters...all of you from every war...alive and those who aren't here anymore. Peace.

Patriotic Posters from America's Past Wars: Veterans Day Remembered

These posters are all circa WW I from 1916 to 1917

Americans were told that this war was the "War to end all Wars" as they joined the fray in Europe.

IT MUST BE GETTING LATE...I'M SEEING CIRCLES MOVE!

Insult to Injury: AIG whines about 3rd quarter profits and gets More Money!

The insurance giant AIG has asked for more bailout money after reporting third-quarter losses. This request amounts to admission that the first effort to fund them failed. So how are we going to know this works? We're not. We're just going to have to sit back and wait until they report their fourth quarter status.

I was against the original bailout and I'm against this increased amount. The American people were sold down the river on that supposed financial crisis stop gap measure.

I hear that the Big Three automakers  are also in line to ask Uncle Sam for more sugar to sweeten their losses!

When are the hand-outs going to stop?

Does anybody else feel like we're getting fleeced while the big-wigs get help in hard times?

It's getting harder to find people who want to go into the military

This blog recently discovered just how desperate we are for new recruits to fight the ground war in Iraq and Afghanistan. This ground squirrel is part of a regiment of rodents that are training in the desert area of 29 Palms, California.

 They undergo tough paw-to-paw training

and are said to be crack shots. Their ability to forage in the field means they will be able to travel light in their pursuit of the enemy.

Circuit City Declares Bankruptcy: electronic retailer plans to restructure

In another sign

of the times a big retail chain struggles to stay afloat. Wal-Mart and Best Buy have hurt Circuit City in the last couple of years. The electronic retail giant has lost $5 Billion in stock value.

The stock market finished down again today, as Americans watch the list of economic causalities grow longer.

Lakers still undefeated as they hammer Houston Rockets by 29 points!

Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol ripped through the Rockets defense on route to a rout. They started off 16 points down in the 1st quarter, but quickly turned things around and were leading by a basket at halftime. In the 4th quarter the Lakers took flight with 39 points!

Did I mention I've been a Laker fan since they moved to LA?

FDA ignores evidence of a threat to nations babies and young children

The FDA has been claiming BPA (a harmful chemical) is not dangerous. But facts have surfaced and the FDA is reluctantly admitting there's problems with the chemical, but they still refuse to ban it!

This is just another case of deceiving the public to keep making money, regardless of the effects! Canada banned it's usage this year. We should be doing the same. CLICK HERE to read AS IT STANDS Sunday column in the Times-Standard.

Have You Ever Wondered What Bears Do In The Woods?

This comes as no surprise to me as I've discovered many camouflaged privies while tromping through the north woods!

Man Plasters Stamps all over His Face and tries to Go Airmail to Italy.

Silas Screenlicker was caught by alert U.S. postal clerks trying to get himself mailed to a small town in Italy. "He wouldn't have been as noticeable if he had clothes on," one clerk told the arresting officers who escorted Mr. Screenlicker out of the post office lobby and to a nearby jail.  "It was all a terrible mistake!" Screenlicker screamed as he got in the police car. One of the arresting officers expressed surprise that the man was even able to find the post office, as his eyes were covered with stamps. A spectator swore that the stamps were valuable old British Stamps and that some of them looked to be priceless.

Demonstrators turn out to Protest Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

More than 2000 people turned out in Long Beach last night to show their displeasure at of the passing of Prop 8 - banning same-sex marriage in California. About 15 people were arrested during the march downtown. The march started at 7:30 p.m., and within an hour the protestors had taken over Broadway.

Chanting "We want equality" and holding signs that said, "Did we vote on your marriage?" the marchers ran into a group of Pro-Prop 8 people and the police had to form a barrier around them as things got bad. A police spokesman said that the Pro-Prop 8 group were so outnumbered that they feared for their safety. Groups have already filed lawsuits protesting the recent ruling. For more on this demonstration CLICK HERE and see what the LA Times has to say about it.
