When Trump visited China in May the communist leader didn't bother greeting him planeside, but Trump's apparently set that humiliating moment aside in an effort to butter up the chunky dictator.
Bringing one of the worst dictators in the world to a state dinner isn't going down easily with most lawmakers in Washington. Among them is Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker, a traditional Republican who has been a loyal MAGA minion defending Trump numerous times.
"Had the White House asked me for advice, I would have suggested the president not invite XI Jinping to Washington for such a lavish welcome here in the United States of America, based on all of the troubling issues we have with Xi and the Chinese Communist party," he told reporters outside Capitol Hill on Tuesday.
Let's set the table for how Xi's visit will go:
In the evening, Trump hosts a state dinner in the East Room featuring prominent American technology executives who are sucking up to the regime.
On Friday, the charade continues with a White House tea party hosted by Trump and Melania, followed by a joint visit to the National Archives Museum to view the US founding documents for a good laugh before Xi departs.
Melania and Xi's wife Peng Liiyuan, are going to have a girl's day out at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art.
I can tell you what won't be discussed during Trump and Xi's conversations; China has given (and is giving) Iran satellite imagery intelligence. Taiwan won't be mentioned. The plight of millions of the Uyghur people who are imprisoned by the Communist party will not come up.
What will come up is trade and artificial intelligence which Trump now calls Super Intelligence to the amusement of scientists and researchers worldwide. In Donny's demented mind he just has to say it...and it will be so.
Keep in mind the optics to this visit. We have a brutal, unelected and oppressive dictator who seeks to dominate his neighbors and whose massive military arsenal is aimed directly at the United States, while the president lavishes praise upon him.
Being transactional, Trump is hoping to profit with some kind of AI deal with Xi. Don't be surprised if he makes special trade concessions for one of his favorite dictators.
Meanwhile the economy is suffering from the Trump/Epstein war's staggering cost, and gas and diesel have reached historic highs while the regime is busy severing healthcare for 750,000 people.
The U.S. and China reached a trade agreement last year that calmed economic tensions, but that deal is set to expire in November.
As it Stands, for the sake of humanity we have to hope Trump and Xi negotiate a new trade deal and agree to pause AI before it's too late.
