Americans are so shell-shocked by the Trump regimes assault on all of our freedoms we dread getting up in the morning.
Each day brings new atrocities, more lies, and more chaos into our lives. It's like death by a thousand cuts. Each one deeper than the last.
Watching democracy die is a painful experience. The regime has pulled out all of the stops in a concentrated effort to subdue and control American citizens.
It's got so bad lately that Trump's goons in ICE have been openly murdering American citizens. When video evidence of a crime is shown the regime tells us not to believe what we see with our own eyes.
When I open my eyes in the morning and get out of bed, I imagine a Jack-in-the-Box ready to violently pop open as I sip my first cup of coffee and end up spewing it when I see the latest atrocity in the news.
I was never a morning person, but I never dreaded them more than I do now... thinking things like, did Trump attack Greenland today?
Or, where's ICE going next? Are they coming to my town? Will I be called a domestic terrorist if I keep going to protests against ICE? Will goons show up and say my blog is a threat to the state and disappear me?
We all have fears about our future under the authoritarian regime Trump has installed. I can't help comparing Nazi Germany in the 1930s to what we are experiencing right now. Historians have made the same connection and have been warning us since Trump slunk into politics praising White Superiority.
Because of my PTSD I take enough medication to put an elephant into a coma before going to bed every night, I don't have dreams or nightmares.
There is one exception. I'm a combat Vietnam veteran. When Spring rolls around I do get Nam nightmares. Doctors call it an anniversary date, like it's something benign.
When Trump took office last year my annual nightmare visits to the Nam had a new addition, Trump attacking and killing American citizens. Unless something drastically changes, I can count on dual nightmares again this Spring.
My nightmare from last year has unfortunately happened. In the last three weeks two American citizens have been executed in broad daylight by ICE goons.
As it Stands, by the time I have my second cup of coffee I'm ready to resist the regime by posting on my blog or going to an anti-Trump protest.
