We can thank this moron from Texas for blocking federal legalization of marijuana!

It seems that the opinion of one good-old-boy Congressman from Texas outweighs yours. Meet the asshole who is making sure the failed War on Drugs never ends:

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), also known for his anti-immigrant policies, has said his House Judiciary panel will not consider the Barney Frank/Ron Paul bill. Period.

Now, we all know that this half-wit Texan already has his mind made up, so maybe there’s not much we can do about that. HOWEVER. What we CAN do is to make every single day of the rest of his life an occasion upon which he was reminded of his rank stupidity.

Here’s Rep. Lamar Smith’s contact info. Let him know what you think of the fact that he is now, by his own choice, the man responsible for continuing marijuana prohibition in the United States.

You can get started by emailing Lamar (click here), but this “man of the people’s” website makes you put in your zip code to do so (handy way to reduce citizen input), so you’re going to need to be from the 21st Congressional District of Texas to do that.

Meanwhile, you can call and write his offices: Washington, DC Office

Not anti-immigrant. That is a false term. Anti ILLEGAL sneaking over the border, and cheating all of those who are waiting in line to immigrate according to the rules, yes.

What do you say to those who are waiting legally? Just go ahead and break the law? Why not, everyone is doing it?

And do you really think it is ok to selectively enforce laws? Well, we don't like this one today so we won't enforce this one, but that one over there, it counts... is that any way to run a country?

God, it's always the easy rhetoric with you guys.

There are much deeper issues. It's not as simple as "anti-immigrant" - but you'd think Al Gore, who is suddenly worried about over population of this country would be caring about that,no?

Hi Rose-

The main point is the MORON is single-handedly keeping pot prohibition alive!

Why do you Conservatives always go "Off the Main Point" and seize on a minor detail (anti-immigrant) instead of recognizing when one of your own screws up BIG TIME...???

Are you telling me he's right to block prohibition? Or, are you conceding that point, and moving into a secondary diversion just because?

I'm for legalizing it - and making the dope dealers pay the same taxes, business license fees, employee withholding, unemployment, etc. as any other business person has to.

But you're the one bringing in the extraneous stuff to make your usual point that he is an evil right-winger - and using terms that don't hold up under scrutiny.

I keep hoping that you will examine those kinds of statements further - because I don't think you would really buy into them if you did. I don't think you are really in favor of cheating all the people who are waiting in line to come in legally, nor to tell them to just go break the law - nor do I think you are in favor of selective enforcement of the pet law du jour. I think you realize, if you think about it - that picking and choosing according to the whim of the day does not inspire confidence or safety for any citizens.

And in fact - the POT laws fit that category too.

You don't like this law, and that law so you think it is ok to break it - today. Maybe tomorrow it will be one you don't like... But you will have established the slippery slope - and if your law is bad, it should either be changed or repealed, not selectively un-enforced.

Also, $100,000 in pot income is essentially $200,000, because that is what any average person would have to make in order to keep the $100,000 after taxes. $300,000 is really $600,000 - that's alot of moolah. Maybe you think it is fair for them to do that.

I dunno, dave, I'm asking.

Rose - I have to admit that your right about me throwing in something to show he's a right winger.

I should have focused more on the pot issue and left that part out.

I can't help it that "right wingers" are such easy targets. They say and do the craziest things.

As far as pot legalization goes we're on the same page.

As far as changing laws goes, we're not on the same page or even in the same book.

Do you realize how many outright stupid and counterproductive laws we have in this land?

The only option is to change them. Not just go along because some politican pushed it through the legal process to benefit himself and cronies...or to futher their personal beliefs/agenda upon us all.

As you know, we don't get to vote on making all the laws. Just the clowns we pay to play with them!

I have already called and informed Mr. Smith's office of the Communist he and other Republicans and Conservatives are when they hypocritically make outlaws out of otherwise law-abiding citizens who are just exercizing their YHWHW-given rights of freedom of Relgon and freedom of speech by consuming what YWHW has said is good, which these Communists have decided are bad. Do not be silent while America drags the entire world and every American city into an ever more immoral and corrupt war started by a corrupt Republican politician named Richard Nixon, who wanted to silence his enemies and stay in power. Tell those self-righteous Representatives that the blood of the innocent victims murdered because of their War on Drugs is on their heads and to STOP playing like they are god. Thanks for listening, 777denny
