With all the chaos Trump has created in less than a year it seems like democracy has been dying a slow death.
But don't despair.
So far (I have to qualify this) the courts have been ruling against Trump's blatant misuse of the DOJ, FBI, The Department of Homeland Security, and every other arm of government.
Federal judges have repeatedly rebuked the Trump regime for its use of force during immigration raids across the country. Last week a federal judge issued an extraordinary rebuke of the Department of Homeland Security's immigration enforcement operation in Chicago, saying the administration made "widespread misrepresentations" as to what was occurring during the operation dubbed "Midway Blitz."
The court has accused Border Patrol commander-at-large Greg Bovino of lying about the events that transpired in the Little Village area of Chicago in October. The judge found his testimony not credible. He felt Bovino appeared evasive over the three days of his disposition, either providing "cute" responses to Plaintiffs' counsel's questions or outright lying.
Trump lawyers are going after his enemies but are being made buffoons by real lawyers who use facts and not fiction in arguing their case. Lindsey Halligan, Trump's handpicked U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia has made multiple mistakes before the grand jury, including misstating the law, using evidence from flawed search warrants and including information protected by attorney-client privilege.
In layman's terms, Halligan, who never prosecuted a case in her life, was fouling up the James Comey case to the point that dismissal - without prejudice - is going to be the likely outcome. A similar miscarriage of justice will also be likely thrown out of court against New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump's retribution tour against all of his perceived enemies isn't going that well. Each case he brings is so bogus the courts are forced to rule against his corrupt regime. There are exceptions - some Trump-appointed judges ignore the law out of loyalty to dear leader.
According to the Institute for Policy Integrity, Trump's regime has failed nearly 93% of the time when its agency actions have been challenged in court - typically for violations of the Administrative Procedure Act.
Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed during Trump's second go around as president. The suits challenge his executive orders as well as actions taken by his regime.
Judges across the political spectrum are ruling against Trump at a shocking 96% of the time, according to an analysis by Adam Bonica, a professor of political science at Stanford.
Because Trump has been attacking judges, the courts, targeting lawyers and legal organizations, he's put the whole legal profession on the defense. The result has been judges may be acutely sensitive to challenges to their authority and far less willing to give the government the benefit of the doubt in certain cases.
As it Stands, in summary, much of what Trump is trying to do is illegal, so it's no surprise what the courts are finding.
