Trump Lives in a Fake World

The only thing that's real in Trump's life is what he believes.

Repeatedly calling real events fake erodes public trust in shared facts and traditional institutions.

When people are unsure of what is true, they are more likely to rely on their pre-existing political loyalty and Trump knows this in his lizard brain.

The first felon throws out the word fake like a cluster bomb against reality on a daily basis. By labeling unfavorable reporting as fake, he's attempting to neutralize negative news cycles. Analysis has shown his use of the word often peaks during periods of intense legal or political scrutiny.

The idea of using the words "fake news" is not an original idea by Trump even though he likes to take credit for them. The usage dates back to 1890 in a newspaper headline, "Secretary Brunnell Declares Fake News About His People is Being Telegraphed Over the Country."

The use of the word fake creates an "Us vs.Them" narrative by using a simple, repetitive catchphrase that helps solidify a bond with his supporters.

Twisting the meaning of the word fake goes beyond just attacking unfavorable media outlets. Someone can cite a fact or real event, and Trump will call it fake just because he doesn't want to believe it or it's contrary to his lies.

By framing external watchdogs and traditional press outlets as fundamentally dishonest, Trump creates a narrative where only he can be trusted.

When his supporters hear the word fake it signals that an attack on Trump is an attack on their shared values, reinforcing loyalty and motivating political engagement.

As it Stands, the good news is the majority of Americans know he's a FAKE president.
