Join me each day for news,opinions,and my column "AS IT STANDS," which runs in The Times-Standard, a daily newspaper in northern California. AS IT STANDS bridged the gap from print to digital by morphing into this blog in July of 2008. I'm a hybrid journalist - a combination of old and new school. Now,it's time for me to walk on down the road.

Daffy has always been my favorite cartoon character and I have never known why. Maybe its becau-....ooooo shiny!!
