Biden Breaks Through: It's Down to Two Candidates

Good Day World!

Whoa Joe! You go!

What a difference a few days can make. Prior to the South Carolina primary people were writing Joe Biden off.

Today it's a two-man race. Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden. After yesterdays results from Super Tuesday the field of candidates has narrowed dramatically.

Suddenly Bernie Sanders is not the front runner. Just like that. The delegate count is (as of 8 a.m. PST) Biden 453 delegates, to Sander's 382 (NOTE: votes are still coming in and it looks like Bernie will win big in California).

Elizabeth Warren has not dropped out of the race thus far, although she doesn't have a viable way forward. There's a chance she may still drop out today.

One thing is now crystal clear, the battle is now between the far left and moderates. Biden's momentum is growing. Endorsements are pouring in. When Bloomberg dropped out he endorsed Biden, which is huge.

The race is far from over. In the coming weeks expect a fierce competition for the remaining states.

Trump: Beware of March 31st. It Could Lead To The End of Your Presidency

Good Day World!

Soothsayers warned Julius Caesar that he should beware of the ides of March (15th) because it was going to be a bad day for him.

Our wannabe King is facing a possible bad day on March 31st. Three cases are going before the Supreme Court, any of which could spell the end of his presidency.

The first case: New York's grand-jury subpoena for Trump's Tax Returns

The other two cases were filed by House Democrats who want Trump's financial records from Mazars, Capitol One, and Deutsche Bank.

The Court will hear oral arguments for all three.

Trump's lawyers are claiming he has sweeping immunity from the criminal process while he's in office. In other words, they're saying he's above the law.

It's a weak argument that has been turned down by all the federal courts of appeal.

Here's the real scary part... if the Supreme Court with it's conservative majority decides to let Trump off the hook, the rule of law in America will no longer mean anything.

Rulings are not expected until around July.

Until then, Americans have to contend with an unhinged narcissist in charge who is busy conducting a revenge tour of non-loyalists in the government.

Of all the cases the Supreme Court takes up this year - these three will be the most consequential.

We'll either still have laws, or we won't as it applies to a corrupt president.

Big Tuesday Hearing: Is the Supreme Court Going To Expand Trump's Power?

Good Day World!

While political analysts and pundits are swooning over Super Tuesday, Trump will be hoping he gets the power to fire the federal government's "independent agency's" leadership in a case before the Supreme Court.

The case is Seila Law v. CFPB, which asks whether the president is allowed to fire the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at will.

Why is this an important case? I'm glad you asked.

First, there's a possibility the Court could use the lawsuit to strike down the entire CFPB. If that happens it would dismantle much of the infrastructure Congress built in response to the 2008 financial crisis.

Second, and more importantly, there's a greater chance that the Court will use the case to fundamentally alter the balance of power between the president and the federal government's "independent agencies."

Who/or what, is Seila Law, and why are they attacking the CFPB?

They're a law firm being investigated by the CFPB for allegedly engaging in unlawful acts or practices in the advertising, marketing, or sale of debt relief services.

Political analysts see the case as a Hail Mary attempt to end that investigation by having the entire agency conducting the investigation struck down.

While the outcome is unlikely, the Court's decision is likely to fundamentally rework the balance of power between Trump and various independent agencies.

The way the system currently works various federal officials, ranging from the CFPB director, to Federal Reserve governors, to members of the Federal Trade Commissioners, serve in independent agencies.

This gives the agency's leaders a certain amount of job security. Trump could fire them the way things are now, but only "for cause" or for "inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office."

Trump and his legal minions are hoping that he get's the ability to fire anyone for no apparent reason. Our reality show star president loves saying "you're fired!" because he thinks it makes him look tough.

I wish I could say I believe the Supreme Court will do the right thing, and quit enabling our pathetic excuse for commander in chief but, alas! I can't.

The Conservative majority seems to think Trump has NO LIMITS to his power.

Politicians Spirit Animals Revealed

Good Day World!

While smoking some intense ganja the other day with a Native American friend he shared some sacred insights into people's spirit animals.

Amazingly he could just look at a person, listen to them for a little bit, and then discern their spirit animal.

For the record, spirit animals are associated with age-old traditions, as well as shamanic beliefs, which teaches us to be closer to nature.

I decided to challenge him and asked him about current lawmakers in Congress.

Here is what he shared

Trump's spirit animal is a cross between a jackass and a loon. A Jackaloon.

Bill Barr's spirit animal is a rabid honey badger.

Mick Mulvaney's spirit animal is a skunk.

Mike Pence's spirit animal is a sheep.

Jim Jordan's spirit animal is a coyote on steroids.

Mike Pompeo's spirit animal is a vulture.

Kevin McCarthy's spirit animal is a turkey.

Betsy DeVos's spirit animal is a snake.

Mitch McConnell's spirit animal is a turtle.

Rob Portman's spirit animal is worm.

Richard Shelby's spirit animal is rat.

Jim Sensenbrenner's spirit animal is a boar.

Mark Meadows's spirit animal is a cockroach.

Matt Gaetz's spirit animal is a chicken.

Devin Nunes's spirit animal is an ostrich.

We talked late into the night and burned bowls by the campfire while he pointed out constellations and revealed that...

he was a Democrat!

Trump 'The Chosen One' Talks About the Coronavirus and Miracles

                                        Good Day World!

If you're a Christian, the reports that Jesus performed miracles are believable.

If you're a Trump supporter, the reports about the coronavirus being fake news is believable, because Trump promised the deadly infectious disease "was going to go away like a miracle" in a press conference recently.

The fact of the matter is Trump is trying to tamp down on the disease's progress by putting his puppet Pence in charge of a disinformation campaign designed to filter the truth out of public announcements.

Trump is taking the coronavirus personally, convinced that the whole thing is a scam to hurt his reelection efforts. Truth is being suffocated in the wasteland of The Trump White House once again.

Now Trump - the Chosen One - is asking his disciples to downplay the dangers that the coronavirus poses to the safety of every person in our country.

Ignoring the reality around him, Trump is blaming the crashing stock market on the Democrats instead of the pending pandemic sweeping the globe.

It's all the Chosen One knows. Pick a foil and blame them for his own stupidity.

The line between fact and fiction has been crossed by Trump and his minions who are trying to downplay the health crisis that's unraveling as I write this post.

Fair Warning

You can only mock reality for so long... before it kicks your ass!

I don't wish this horrible virus on anyone, but when Republicans start dying from the disease they may want to reconsider following a false prophet!

New Research: It Might Be Time To Take LSD

Good Day World!

Full disclosure: I was a hippy dippy kind of guy in the 60's and 70s, and dropped LSD countless times.

I stopped after coming back from Vietnam in 1970.

A NEW LOOK AT LSD

I read a fascinating report about LSD's medical use in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs yesterday.

In it, there was a story about a 46-year-old woman who snorted a staggering 550 times the normal recreational dose of LSD and not only survived, but found that the foot pain she had suffered from since her 20s was dramatically reduced!

Who would of guessed?

I remember dropping acid with some people who freaked out with just one dose. It's hard for me to imagine that the 46-year-old woman in the report didn't turn into a complete vegetable.

I guess that's how little I, and science, knows about all of the effects of LSD. Even after all of these years (first discovered in 1938 by Albert Hoffman).

I discovered that there's a resurgence of research in the use of psychedelic substances for treatment of conditions such as addiction, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.

Despite the fact that psychedelics are illegal, the last decade has seen an explosion of research, with results so intriguing that governments are greenlighting studies around the world.

I'm turning 70 this year, and I'm a lot more cautious than I was back in the day. But, I never had a bad trip.

Maybe it's time to drop LSD again. I've got this bad knee...

Be Calm: Trump Makes it Clear That Democrats Caused the Coronavirus But He'll 'Fix It'

Good Day World!

I certainly don't feel reassured.

Trump's speech yesterday to reassure Americans there's nothing to worry about despite the spreading pandemic that's in six of the earth's seven continents, went over like a lead balloon.

For starters, who believes the Lord of the Lies? Trump's perfect record of lying everyday since he was elected hasn't gone unnoticed.

Then there's that pesky propaganda Trump is pushing about the democrats and the mainstream media overreacting to the spread of the deadly coronavirus and "spooking the market."

Thus far, Trump's crooked regime has only grudgingly offered $ 2.5 Billion to combat the infectious disease instead of the $ 8.5 Billion recommended by Congress.

The fact is, no amount of political rhetoric will over-trump the science of what the nation is facing. Past presidents have used these times of national emergency to bring the country together.

Not Trump.

He has already shown us that's not the case with him. There's always someone, or something, to blame when he's actually the cause of the problem.

In this case, it's the democrats and the mainstream media for pointing out how woefully unprepared we are to meet a major health challenge under his regime.

To bring that point home Trump's minions have proposed to slash (a 19 percent reduction) the Center for Disease Control's budget during this time of impending crisis.

In Trump's rambling rant yesterday to the nation he claimed US scientists are "very close" to a vaccine... which is bullshit!

As Trump continues to downplay adversities (big and small) while campaigning for reelection, it's clear that he's more interested in getting another term in the White House than he is in the loss of American lives.

Cononavirus Contained in America? Who Do You Believe? Trump, or Health Authorities?

Good Day World!

Trump claims the Cononavirus won't affect Americans any more than it has.

Department heads from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention are warning Americans to be prepared for a likely outbreak.

Which source do you believe?

Our serial liar of a president, or knowledgeable experts on the subject?

Trump's minions, like National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow, are willingly following Trump's bogus claim.

How typical.

"Nothing to see here folks... just move on."

This is where America's currently at; we're watching an oncoming train and the president of the United States is more worried what business will be lost (so he lies) instead of showing concern for the safety of every American in the nation.

It's that bad.

Trump's reluctance to share the truth is well established, and this time his stubbornness may cause deaths. His hunger for power and wealth has been taking the country to dark places.

In this case, Americans are going to have to decide for themselves on the proper course to take.

They sure aren't getting any sensible direction from the Divider in Chief.

Will Democrats Lose the Election in November Because of a Toxic Label?

                                        Good Day World!

When I grew up during the Cold War the term Socialist was interchangeable with Communist. The enemy.

Today, Millennials don't think the term Democratic Socialist is a bad label. But their parents still see the term socialist (in any context) as un-American.

In a recent article by William Saletan for Slate, the data described sounds like bad news for Democrats if they do go with Bernie Sanders, a self-avowed Democratic Socialist.

One of the articles most important points was that data shows Independents are less likely to vote for a socialist. The other point was the democratic candidate absolutely NEEDS as many Independents as it can get to beat Trump.

Last time, in 2016, Trump carried more Independents than the Democrats, helping Trump (along with other factors like the Russian's) beat Hillary Clinton.

Bernie Sander's campaign is gathering speed every day as he leads in delegates going into the South Carolina primaries.

The democratic establishment wants a moderate candidate like Biden, Buttigieg, or Klobuchar, because they believe Independents are more likely to vote for one of them.

But what if Bernie wins the majority of delegates by a landslide? Will the party support him in the convention, or contest his majority and go with a moderate?

There's no upside to that possibility. Divided, the party won't stand, and it's candidate won't be able to defeat Trump in the general election.

Who knows? maybe the polls are wrong and Independents will be able to swallow their dislike for a socialist candidate in order to defeat Trump?

Trump's India Visit is His Biggest Photo Op Ever!

                                       Good Day World!

It's taken weeks of planning to arrive at todays photo shoot.

The White House billed it as Trump's first official visit to India.

Trump aides went to Ahmedabad, India, the home base of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, weeks ago to help set up the logistics for Trump's arrival.

Trump and Modi are buddies and fellow showmen. Both love a spectacle, and having Trump at the inauguration of the world's largest cricket stadium - Motera Stadium - (with seating for a 110 thousand people) is pure Hollywood gold.

The official bullshit is Trump's there to work on their poor trade relations, but don't expect any kind of breakthrough. However, that's not to say the two leaders haven't gotten other mutual interests.

Like Trump Tower going up in Mumbai and other real estate ventures.

The Trump organization is planning on going bigger in the future and Modi wants the business.

That's why Modi is spending one-and-a-half percent of the nation's annual budget to butter Trump up.

Trump's Indian host made sure he doesn't see the poverty that plague's the world's largest democracy by building a quarter-mile long wall from the airport to the stadium. It's no secret Trump loves walls.

Feeling the 'Bern' in Nevada: Sanders Is Setting the Democractic Establishment on Fire

                                          Good Day World!

It rained off-and-on in Las Vegas yesterday, but that didn't seem to bother Sanders supporters attending the Democratic primary.

The emerging story today tells a tale that moderate Democrats don't want to hear; voters are feeling the "Bern," picking Sanders as their choice for president in Nevada.

That moderates like Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar didn't do as good as they should have, especially in a diversely populated state, has to be a concern for establishment Democrats.

A Populist, Bernie Sanders was the big story. One interesting sidebar to his story is that 3-in-5 voters made their mind up before yesterday's primaries.

The Democratic National Party is facing a dilemma it hoped to avoid; a growing split in the party between moderates and the far left.

The prevailing thought is that a self-avowed socialist will get pummeled by Trump because he'd be the perfect foil for him and his cult followers.

When a House Intelligence Committee warned that the Russians wanted Trump reelected, and were supporting Berni Sanders as his opponent, Democratic leaders were faced with another unwanted narrative...

Bernie Sanders won't stand a chance against Trump and that's why his campaign and the Russians are promoting him. How do you deal with that little fire?

Because Sanders took the majority of the Hispanic vote (with Biden a distant second) DNC leaders can't ignore that important demographic if they want to win states like Nevada.

Anyone who saw Sander's rally in Texas yesterday, as he was winning the Nevada vote, couldn't help but see the enthusiasm of the huge audience he was addressing.

It almost looked like a Trump rally, with the exception that most at Bernie's rally live in the real world

Fact: No other Democrat has been able to generate such large and enthusiastic audiences. No other Democrat has more individual donors than Bernie.

The DNC can't just ignore the groundswell of support that Sanders has been enjoying because their afraid of his socialist tag. No matter who runs against Trump, he'll find something to attack them on.

There's a long ways to go yet before Super Tuesday and the remainder of the other primaries are over. Lot's can happen.

The one thing that shouldn't happen is the DNC working against Bernie because they can't overcome their assumption that only a moderate can beat Trump.

Related: Bernie Sanders Just Declared War on the Democratic Establishment

The key to beating Trump is having a united front. If Democrats are really serious about winning they may have to think outside the box to beat such an unorthodox opponent.
