HAPPY NEW YEAR TO MY BLOGGER BUDDIES & READERS!

I have wisely chosen not to make a New Year's resolution. I've never managed to stick with one, and there's no reason to think I will this year.

I wouldn't say 2008 was great because the economy tanked so badly. I'd like to say 2009 will be fine, but our depression is probably going to get worse before it gets better. Having said that, I still think that we all have the choice to be happy or sad, regardless of the economy, and world events.

I'm not suggesting a Pollyanna outlook on life, but I believe that we do have some control as to how our days go. It's harder to think positive, than it is to think negatively, according to experts.

The answer is, you have to force yourself to think of something positive, but in time it will come easy as you train your brain! Happy New Year's To You!

Did you know that a popular quote of Abraham Lincoln was that "a man is about as happy as he makes up his mind to be."?

Do you know that he learned to read by reading the Bible?

Do you know that Proverbs 23:7 states (pertaining to a man) "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

I'm new to your writing platform, and this is my second response to one of your articles. The first one was an anonymous one too.

I'm in fact very new to reponding to blogs.

I have a question concerning the platform you have entitled AS IT STANDS.

Is it built on sand or on rock, these words under the auspices of something called AS IT STANDS?

If you aim at nothing, you will hit it, and if there is 'no reason to think that you will stick to a resolution', then it will 'BE SO' according to your faith. (decision to believe in what you've deemed to be true)

Words are so powerful Dave. Let me ask you this while its fresh on my mind, is this a 'rare insight' too and could it be being written by a man who's got a genuine concern for the one who is walking in your shoes?

The answer 'you have to force yourself to think of something positive that in time will come easy as you train your brain' sound's good, but it is not God's best. This is an example of a type of foundation, and AS IT STANDS, is on sand and subject to great sorrow for the reader who believes. The writer who believes is even in greater danger.

Do you really know that God loves you and has a plan for your life my friend. What a platform you've been given by Him to make His Presence known to all the ones in your sphere of influence.

With respect,

Rare Insight

Thanks for the comments Anonymous.

You've poised some pretty heavy questions.

I am a Christian and I do believe in God. This blog has been a gift from Him since I started it.
So I think that answers your question about what "As It Stands" is built on - solid faith is the answer.
Between my newspaper columns and this blog I've been blessed.

As far as my saying that I'm not making resolutions...that was a bit of humor/satire inspired by all those who do make them and don't keep them!

I sure appreciate you writing and I hope we met again over words of interest to both of us.
